AUSTIN (KXAN/Texas Tribune) — The Texas chapter of the NAACP, along with the civil rights organization’s University of Texas at Austin chapter and a group of anonymous students, has filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights alleging UT Austin is creating a “hostile environment” for Black students by continuing to play the “The Eyes of Texas” alma mater song at university events.
The complaint, filed Friday morning, alleges Black students have been denied full benefits of Longhorn student life, because the song is an official part of the university, “despite its racially offensive origin, context and meaning.”

What’s next? Tearing down the Alamo?
Why stay in America if it is such a racist country?
From what I read about the past controversy, the referenced “context and meaning” seem to exist in the vivid imagination of those looking an excuse to be aggrieved.
Companies fixed “racist” connections last year by removing black representation from product packaging that for generations has meant tasty food. I still wonder who those folks are to undermine the legacy of Nancy Green, a former slave, who traveled around originating the part of Aunt Jemima. A woke college student told me he didn’t want to be reminded of those times. Reminded? His grandparents weren’t even around then. Who taught him those associated connections? What did it benefit him? What did they gain other than to keep him on a political plantation and help him feel “less than.” Ironically, he doesn’t seem to mind slave labor making his clothes or tech products.
No comment. The madness is everywhere.

General tolerance for the madness is destroying the country.
Go enroll in one of those “all black schools where whites are NOT allowed”.,
A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE......Their slogan
Sul Ross was vandalized last summer by BLM. Their complaint was that he has served in the CSA. But he had also been the first president of A&M and had been a governor of Texas. There were multiple standoffs between the ignorant agitators and older alums. Because he had been a governor, the statue is property of the State of Texas.
It still stands today.
The University of Texas has been a POS liberal cesspool for a very long time. But it is never enough. I wish they would wake up and abolish all their grievance studies crap and tell the liberals to go to hell.
Oh, I’m well aware of Sul Ross’s pedigree. Was a Corp member in the 80’s and had to memorize it (still do.)
Lawrence Sullivan Ross, 1838 - 1898.
Soldier, statesman, knightly gentleman,
Brigadier General CSA,
Governor of Texas,
President of the A&M College. (Sir!)
But the university isn’t what it used to be. They’ve caved to a LOT of leftist demands. Eventually, they’ll cave to the left on this.
You may not be at the destination of the road you’re on, but you’re still on that road.
Yes, it has. I cringe to think my niece attends there. She grew up in an Evangelical Christian family, going to Classical Christian private school K - 12, and now all of that is out the window. She has rejected pretty much all of it.
There is a new president now. There are about to be some very positive changes there.
“I think it was originally a Haydn opus.”
Now you did it...any page with his name will be torn from every textbook in every school in Pennsylvania. And a number of charts from the school music library will be burned, publicly.

I hope you’re right. But too much change in the right direction and he’ll be fired.
Christian schools aren’t very good at teaching apologetics. The kids grow up believing stuff just because their parents and inner culture believe in it, no different than if they were raised muslim.
The was a rigorous Classical school, though, and critical thinking was stressed, and apologetics as well. I just think the culture is too much for some of these students once they leave home.
She did go to a very staunchly Christian college her first year (Church of Christ) but I think that just pushed her the other way.
When I see Koran verses, I see a religion that UPHOLDS evil, so when a muzzie jihadist kills a schoolbus full of infidels, he is FOLLOWING the precepts of his religion.
Christians who engage in violence against innocents are going AGAINST the precepts of their religion.
One of these religions is superior to the other. But if we can't figure out how to counteract worldly influence, it becomes a luzing battle. Luke 18:8 But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?
black Fragility. …
Who knew, black snowflakes.
20 years since 9/11 and this is what we have become. Much of America is no better than the Taliban in core concepts. I hate conspiracy but I now truly believe there are forces who used 9/11 to fundamentally change America into that coveted new world order and reset that is on going.
