SARASOTA, Fla. - On an otherwise unremarkable Tuesday morning, President George W. Bush was in Florida to discuss education initiatives at an elementary school. But that visit was interrupted by the worst terror attack on American soil.
Bush had spent the night in Sarasota after holding a leadership forum with his brother Jeb, who was the governor of Florida at the time, and several other state officials in Jacksonville.

Yep.
Not just the libs. Just yesterday, Ann Coulter called Bush on the carpet for not freaking out in front of the kids:
One point I politely refrained from making 20 years ago: Why was the president of the United States reading “The Pet Goat” to a class of second-graders at the moment our nation was attacked?
America was under attack.
Bush handled it as well as anyone could have.
But nowadays, it is hard to look back at Bush fondly. As the years have unfurled we have come to learn that two attacks on America have been happening. The overt attack of the jihadist and the covert attack of the marxist.
Bush has proven himself to be a collaborator with the latter. He never has a criticism to level at those who put America last. He has nothing but for those who put it first. He hides behind the “need for civility” as his justification. But the only civility this guy cares about is the one where he is accepted into the “in” crowd.
Bush was and is the democrat’s perfect Republican, a defenseless fool who allows himself and those who bought into his false promises of “conservatism” to be savaged.
Bush ultimately corrupted the objective of preventing jihadists from attacking America. He turned it into forever war nation building. No clear objectives, no clear end game, just war and the lining of neocon pockets which was fully supported by the likes of Liz Cheney.
And the result? Twenty years later and the jihadists are stronger than they were on 9/11 courtesy of a dose of Biden. But that is how the marxists want it, isn’t it? They can use their media to cast any jihadist attack as really, somehow being “white supremacy” and the need for gun control. Meanwhile, they can use the destruction of Afghanistan to bring in more refugee voters.
And Bush’s response? His response to all that he claimed to stand for being dismantled? Silence and tempered “civility.”
well said
I think children are capable of understanding danger. He should have stood up and said “kids, some bad people attacked our country and I’m going to go kick some ass. So let’s pray for our country. “
All of the fuss regarding 9-11 breaks my heart. I can barely stand to hear some of the insincere remembrances from corrupt politicians and Marxist media.
We said we’d never forget, but the likes of Ilhan Omar in our Congress and the Dems debacle in Afghanistan tell me we have forgotten. 9-11 is well on it’s way to becoming a meaningless memorial to the average American.
We are under attack, still. Not from islam, but from a corrupt government and media. The tentacles of the radical left are far reaching. Biden’s latest firings of academy advisors is just another example of the left’s willingness to push hard for the agenda, while the right remains disjointed, and at times just unaware.
For me, 9-11 brings a sadness beyond the attack itself.
America has been under attack since 1960.
Does anyone have the link to the Youtube posted a couple days ago with GW in the classroom and the scroll of words across the screen? I seem to have lost it.
No, it was not necessary.
What could he do 1500 miles away?
I used to cringe at Bush 2 when he almost begged the media to believe what he was saying. He had an inflection at the end of every sentence that was plaintive, like a kid in trouble trying to get his story accepted. Bill Clinton ended every sentence with a period that you could not mistake. He was confident. Bush was whiny and weak. Even as Democrats were calling him Chimpy McBush and Bushitler, he was trying to get them to like him. They like him now because he has no power other than he wants them to like him and is willing to compromise all of his principles.
From the start, we have refused to call it what is is/was.
ATROCITY. AMBUSH.
NOT “tragedy”. Hurricane Ida, Hurricane Katrina were “tragic”.
This was perpetrated by humans - specifically, a war cult bent on brutality.
Nope. Even back then they’d call it a “tragedy”. This was WAR.
But God forbid we call out Moslems for what they “preach”.
Bush was aware SOMETHING was going on because of all the media jostling he could see in the background.
He handled it well, in front of children.
The media was going to give him grief no matter what he did.
Media attacked Bush-43 no matter what he did but once he attacked Trump, all is forgiven
He would do well to remember how the left savaged him, and quit piling on Trump - who underwent worse.
And went to WAR we did !
