Communists use moral decadence merely as a tool for subversion. In the earliest days of the Soviet Union, the Bolsheviks encouraged sexual license to break down the moral strictures deriving from Russia's Orthodox tradition and Tsarist laws. Upon the rise of Stalin and the exile of Trotsky, the advocate of "permanent revolution", the permissiveness ceased, and homosexuals and pornography were suppressed. While abortion remained legal and divorce was permitted, the Stalinist regime promoted family stability, not out of religious convictions, but because of pragmatic considerations. Suppressed debauchery makes for a healthier society and produces men better suited for war or manual labor.

Other Communist countries saw a similar pattern. Castro ended casino gambling, suppressed prostitution, and imprisoned homosexuals. Che Guevara was as anti-gay as Jerry Falwell, albeit for different reasons. In China. Mao ruthlessly suppressed the opium trade, executing dealers and even addicts. In both China and Cuba, Communist puritanism followed the permissiveness of past regimes, which were deemed bourgeois decadence.

The Trotskyist wannabes on the American and Western European Left should learn from history, but that is unlikely. The Napoleon, Hitler, or Stalin waiting in the wings will dispose of the useful idiots with extreme prejudice.

That's how tyranny starts...just a little registration requirement, I mean, it's for the public good, right? Who can object to kids handing over their personal details effectively to the state, since we don't want them, ya know, playing "dangerous" games?

Many of us love the idea of - and have been involved in - homeschooling, because we believe inter alia , it is the parents' job to raise their kids. We love the idea of keeping the state out of our kids minds and out of our homes.

But in the same breath, the champions of homeschooling rage when our government doesn't have a Stasi-like approach to video games. Then the same people slobber over communist governments for their approach.
