Probably not.
If’n I were a betting man, I’d bet on Newsome ‘winning.’ I am pretty sure the steal is in.
And, if Newsome is out and Larry Elder wins, an outcome that would delight me, then the poor guy has deal with a overwhelmingly Leftist legislature.
Hopefully, Larry Elder wins, and the voters of California give him a reasonable legislature with which to work shortly thereafter.
But I wouldn’t bet on it.

It is California, Dems don’t need to steal to win anymore. Republicans are down to 24% of registered voters. White men are now only ~17% of the population. It shows how much progress Trump make with the Latino voters that this is even within 10 points.

Schwarzenegger had the same problem. He ran on a great agenda, emphasizing weakening the public employee unions. And he tried to deliver -- twice.

First Schwarzenegger tried to pass his conservative reformst agenda through the legislature.

Then, after that failed, Schwarzenegger put his agenda items on several ballot propositions -- and the voters went against them.

The same voters who put Schwarzenegger in office, when they had the chance, voted down the propositions Schwarzenegger ran on.

After that, Schwarzenegger gave up on reforming the unions. He fought for his agenda in the legislature, then gave voters a chance to pass it. When the voters wimped out, Schwarzenegger took an "I tried" attitude and turned to other matters, such as the environment.

I don't hate Schwarzenegger the way many conservatives do. He tried harder than do most elected Republicans. He gave up only after his base of voters gave up.
