Of course it begs the question. Why should I hire anyone who was too lazy to work for the last year and a half?
These “lazy” folks have two attributes that make them strong candidates:
—They are good at math. They figured out they made more money not working than working.
—They understood marginal utility. They understood that leisure time has a value. That will help them understand their customers.

You shouldn’t.
Good observation, especially in today's world where employees are more concerned with time off than performance and loyalty. That's why I generally place my bets on people with experience who have demonstrated their value, often people over 50 years old who are typically extremely dependable, knowledgeable, adaptable and willing to get the job done.
Which in turn begs the question why would ANYONE displaying your level of contempt and ignorance want to work for you?
