Maybe a sudden surge in interest in Cowboy Action Shooting?
More likely it’s a lower volume production item. It’s one of those calibers that’s a perennial favorite, but you never figured there would be a shortage.
Used to know a guy who went through 500 rounds every week; about the same time, I knew a different guy, who went through maybe 50 rounds per year. In all honesty, neither one really needed advice on how much ammo to buy (and the second guy paid no attention, when I offered it ;^).
...and be realistic about how much ammunition you would need to fight for life and liberty in a worst-case scenario.
I'm not sure the author's concept of "realistic" would be entirely compatible with many potential 'worst-case scenarios'...
;^)
Hmmmmm.... thought it might be some new-fangled auto-loader.
Or like us you could just have stocked up when ammo was plentiful. 😏
That is the very same philosophy that forces masks onto other people.
I’m a big fan of the sitelite system. I even used it on my Sharps with vernier sights.
Rarely see .30-30 in Cowboy except the odd long range event. Plus, cowboy is not growing these days.
I was being a bit facetious. I figured it’s not growing right now, due to lack of ammo. Plus, no-one wants to be around other people!
How so, when they couldn’t care less how you clean your guns?
Yes they are, and the break easily.
They are almost never good for more than one head of big game.
The problem is people reload their firearms, and are interupted just as they chamber a round.
It could be a phone call, a person coming into the room, a minor emergency.
This short circuits the memory process.
The interruption stops; the person thinks- where was I? - oh, dry firing.
Up comes the gun. Instead of "click", Kaboom! If they are lucky, no one is hurt.
It is the most common form of dry firing accident.
The people who thought ahead and stockpiled when it was cheap and easy increased the production capacity for those who did not plan ahead.
Ammo Alone Won’t Keep You Safe. Here’s What To Do When It’s Hard To Find
That is one of the stupidest, most nonsensical, most non-sequiturious headlines I have ever read. Easily stupid enough to sway me not to bother reading the article.
It’s nice to know that we don’t have a shortage of betters around. You know, to tell us all how we should be living our lives, and suchlike stuff.
It’s a miracle that the human race has survived, considering that we’re not intelligent enough to buy an appropriate amount of ammunition.
All Ammo prices are outrageously high.
“outrageously high”
That’s a little subjective font you think?
Look here and tell me what you think.

Outrageously high.
