COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Danish government presented a proposal on Tuesday which is aimed at getting foreigners and people with an immigrant background to work 37 hours a week in exchange for welfare benefits.
The proposal of the minority Social Democratic government said that “there are still too many people, especially with non-Western backgrounds, who do not have a job to get up to” in the morning.
“If you come to Denmark, you have to work and support yourself and your family,” it says.
Many women of foreign descent remain outside the labor market, especially women with roots in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey, the proposal read.
The government wants “effort and performance go hand in hand” with social benefits, and “if one cannot support oneself, one must have a duty to participate and contribute what is equivalent to a regular working week to receive the full welfare benefit,” said the 40-page government report, entitled “Denmark can do more.”
As of July 1, immigrants and their descendants represent 14.1% of Denmark’s population of nearly 6 million people, according to official figures. The largest groups are from Turkey, Syria and Iraq.

I mean it is fair, if you are able bodied and are capable of working you need to do something to access benefits, otherwise you are leeching on the system. Something is changing in Denmark for sure.
Reminds me of a story , black women was interviewed on local tv years back. She felt that since she worked a full month that she deserved unemployment as well as other services that were due her

True story. I grew up in an area of the country full of Scandinavians (Danes, Swedes, Norwegians and even a few Icelandic). They were, in many cases, only a generation or two away from the old country. Some still had the accents.
Almost all of them were kind-hearted, Lutheran and very industrious. They could not, for the life of them, comprehend how someone would want to live off the system when they were physically able to work. The very concept of doing so was repugnant to them.
Almost, I might add, as repugnant as the concept of working for an Infidel is to far too many Muslim "refugees" today.
It’s about time.

And they believe that every international problem like murderous Islam can be solved by enough talking over weak coffee and kringla.
They lost their warrior DNA invading Poland and Russia long ago.
Pssst…do that for Danes, too.

What an interesting concept.
The horror, the horror.
Perfect example of why ‘Democratic Socialism’ will FAIL in any country with a significant minority population.
Denmark and the rest of Scandenavia did just fine with the Democrat Socialism when they were lily-white, but that was ONLY due to social pressure. Deadbeats simply weren’t tolerated.
But they’re still trying it with other groups, and to those groups, people who work are sellouts and ‘acting white’. Plus, as they note, women from most Muslim cultures simply are not permitted work, even if they want to.
