Another ivermectin story and false reports; this time by AP

AP reported 70% of poison calls in Mississippi were for ivermectin. The true number is reportedly 1.4%. Leah Willingham of the Associated Press (AP) joins Rolling Stone in having to correct an embarrassing error, as propagandists try to controversialize the medicine ivermectin to treat Covid-19.

Both news agencies have passed along widely false information as they state or imply that leagues of uninformed people across the country are poisoning themselves with ivermectin.

The AP report on August 23 falsely stated that 70% of recent calls to the Mississippi Poison Control Center were from people who had ingested ivermectin to try to treat COVID-19.

The actual number was reportedly around 2% or, as calculated by another news organization, 1.4%, not 70%.

AP says the incorrect information was provided by the Mississippi Department of Health. AP corrected its story to state that about 2% of calls were related to ivermectin and 70% of the 2% were released to the animal formulation of the drug.

Propagandists and public health officials have been trying to dissuade people from using ivermectin to treat Covid-19, although many scientists and physicians say it has proven highly effective in some people.

Ivermectin is FDA-approved in humans for other uses. Like two of the Covid-19 vaccines, ivermectin is not FDA-approved for Covid-19. However, off-label use, prescription of medicine by a doctor for other maladies is common in the U.S. and is legal.

As of Sept. 6, The Washington Post, NPR, ABC, and other media retained the false information, uncorrected, in their reporting.

My old browser always told the truth; Whenever I clicked on a link to an AP article, my system always showed this on the task bar:

how many actual calls did they get and over what time period? how many of those calls were concerning? or led to an ER referral? I had to call poison control for my daughter a couple of times and it was usually a confirmation on whether what she had ingested was dangerous or not. I imagine 100% of the 2% of calls were of the nature of you’ll be fine, but call your doctor if it gets worse.

If AP had a reputation, other than being the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, they would have lost it over stories like this.

They fact check everything Trump says, but they don't fact check their own stories.

There is some kind of urban legend floating around that ivermectin is ONLY a horse medicine. This medication has in fact been approved for use in human medical treatment, specifically for various kinds of parasites. As of yet, there are no approved alternative uses, but the anecdotal evidence that is filtering in, indicates that, yes, there is some kind of COVID-19 Wuhan virus suppressant effect, enough so that the patient is often able to recover with no lasting ill effects, and the duration of the course of the disease is much shortened.

And yet, there is an almost fanatical effort to suppress the use of this very promising course of treatment, with all kinds of horror stories of people self-medicating with various preparations of ivermectin. Most of these reports are just that, overreaction to rumored accounts of persons who have managed to overdose, by not knowing the safe and effective levels of the medication, or of its deliberate misuse.

Like the people who were dosing themselves with toxic levels of a fish-tank cleaner. Or even foolishly drinking household bleach.

All potential recipients of the Darwin Awards, by self-elimination from the human genetic pool.

“This medication has in fact been approved for use in human medical treatment, specifically for various kinds of parasites.”

Believe I read that in excess of 4 billion doses of Ivermectin have been distributed over the years.

The way this story and the turning away gunshot victims story haven’t been censored for “spreading misinformation” tells all one needs to know about the purpose and intentions of said censorship. Come to think of it, even stories that claim the purpose of the censorship is to suppress misinformation are themselves misinformation.

If the News Media and this President* weren’t trying to terrorize the citizenry with their COVID policies the number of people overdosing on Ivermectin would be ZERO because we would be allowed to take it under medical supervision.

The evidence is much more than anecdotal. Look at the meta study link.

Useful Ivermectin links. More than you probably want to know about Ivermectin:

Emory University has a very prestigious medical school. The Dean of Emory Medical School has Indian heritage, and co-wrote an article in the Times of India advocating using Ivermectin against Covid, among other things. This has gotten =ZERO= coverage in US media, including his hometown paper, the AJC, and his hometown news network, CNN.

Try to convince me that isn’t newsworthy - both his original article and the non-coverage of it by US media.

Link to the article discussed above, and Emory’s leadership page.
