Lewinsky says Bill Clinton 'should want to apologize'

Monica Lewinsky says that former President Clinton "should want to apologize" for his part in the 1990s scandal surrounding his affair with her, a then-White House intern.

"I think there was a long period before my life changed in the last six or seven years, where I felt a lot in terms of there not being this resolution. And I'm very grateful that I don't have that feeling anymore," Lewinsky told "Today's" Savannah Guthrie on Monday when asked if she feels that Clinton owes her an apology.

"I don't need it," Lewinsky continued.

"He should want to apologize in the same way that I'd want to apologize any chance I get to people I hurt and my actions have hurt," she said of the 42nd president.

I think it's great that she's doing this. Hillary needs to have this 'vast, right-wing conspiracy' rubbed in her face daily. It was she, HRC, who wrote a paper in college titled The Misanthrope. It was she who told Leon Panetta and John Podesta, while they were all students at Yale, that nobody was ever going to vote for her for anything. It was she who made herself a supplier to an addict. It was she who tried to protect Bill. It was she who kept the party together after Bill's fluid showed up on the blue dress following his assertion - I did not have improper sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. HRC did *all* the heavy lifting, and then, the party threw her overboard in favor of a young, black Senator from Illinois. Then, she was thrown overboard a second time, so unceremoniously in 2016. But young people don't know her story - that she became a partner at Rose Law after Bill became the Governor, that she became Senator after he became President, that she became Sec'y. of State after he had to broker a peace between the DNC and the DLC in 2008.

So let Monica tell the story. Let Hillary seethe all over again. Let her remember how she debased herself for that man, Mr. Clinton. Let her reflect on how much all his 'mistakes' cost her. You go, Miss Lewinsky!

The other point I wanted to make is that very few volunteers received a paying job after the volunteer slot ended. Monica received one. Shouldn’t Monica apologize to all the other interns, who may have been more qualified, but missed out because they didn’t do what Monica did?

I'm pretty sure she would have much preferred that her relationship with The Toon never happened. She is a punchline. Her last name has become a noun and a verb. No guy has wanted to date her, much less marry her and start a family. She has had a difficult time finding meaningful work. What normal woman would want that?

I kind of felt the same way. Sure, she was a voluntary participant, but...rules were in place to protect someone like her, particularly a young woman in the company of a predatory, older man.

And Bill Clinton was a predatory man. He knew what those rules were, and why they should be observed. And broke them. Deliberately.

I found the feminist response to that ironic, amusing, and at the same time, sad. Showed the feminists for what they truly are.

Well, once you're in the situation she's in you make the best of it. I'd be willing to bet that, if asked, she'd say she'd erase the whole thing if she could. I have heard her say in interviews how hard it has been for her. She is certainly not blameless - after all, she was servicing a married (even if in name only) man - but she was really just a naive kid at the time. It ruined her life.
