Sept 5 (Reuters) - The leader of the Afghan opposition group resisting Taliban forces in the Panjshir valley north of Kabul said on Sunday he welcomed proposals from religious scholars for a negotiated settlement to end the fighting.

Ahmad Massoud, head of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRFA), made the announcement on the group's Facebook page. Earlier, Taliban forces said they had fought their way into the provincial capital of Panjshir after securing the surrounding districts.

The Islamist Taliban took control of the rest of Afghanistan three weeks ago, taking power in Kabul on Aug. 15 after the Western-backed government collapsed and President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

Apparently Pakistan is going the fight with the Taliban and Al Qeuda.

Qader farahmand @farahmandq

There is no doubt in military involvement of Pakistan in Bombarding of #Panjshir . Taliban are not capable of such an attack, piloting of helicopters & control of drones.
#ISI planning, coordinating & organizing the recent battle.

It’s a trap!

Oprah and Marianne Williamson would tell them: "Go ahead and be vulnerable. Every good human relationship begins with trust."

The leaders and troops don't seem to be lacking in courage. It's just that there are far fewer of them. The Taliban is now larger and better-organized, supported by lits of U.S. equipment and supplies. And if this report is believed, Pakistani help.

Militarily, they are just wildly overmatched at this point.
