A spokesperson for South Carolina's Law Enforcement Division confirmed to Fox News that state law enforcement had been asked to investigate a shooting in Hampton County and that the victim was the 53-year-old Murdaugh, but he could not release additional details.

"I have been told he is going to be OK," his brother, John Murdaugh, told Fox News...

Murdaugh was found on Salkehatchie Road in Hampton County Saturday afternoon...

Paul and Maggie Murdaugh, 22 and 52, were found shot to death on a family property in Islandton on June 7. The homicide case remains unsolved.

Shortly after Paul and Maggie Murdaugh were killed, state investigators said they found information that led them to reopen the investigation into the suspicious 2015 death of a 19-year-old man named Stephen Smith.

And at the time of the double murder, the younger Murdaugh was awaiting trial in connection with a deadly 2019 boat crash near Parris Island that killed 19-year-old passenger Mallory Beach and injured others.

A cheap hit man or a distracted hit man .
There are few good roads in that area .
I assumed on coming traffic startled the shooter .

Every State, County and Municipality has a handful of families that run the show. Sometimes they cross the wrong/right people.

This sounds juicy enough for a whole TV season.

Story says he was driving to a location while not taking a more direct way.
When ever I can I take a back road to my destination to avoid taking the freeway.
More to see and more comfortable.
Just saying.
Pretty good murder mystery and shooting though

Or a hitman instructed to give a message but not to kill?

Per various media this morning, there were two men in the truck and at least 10 shell casings at the scene.

Fox reported this morning that Alex Murdaugh entered drug rehab on Monday, a day after he was fired from his family law firm for stealing millions of dollars.

He was shot on his way to Charleston, while repairing a flat tire. The road he was on is an out of the way and much longer route to Charleston. But the local story is he was going dove hunting.

Powerful lawyer fixing flat? No road service! LOL!

His lawyer said he resigned from the law firm to go into rehab.

The law firm says he was fired over $millions misappropriated.

“While being deposed, Cook also indicated that two unsubstantiated rumors about the Murdaughs led him to comply with his friend’s father’s request, saying, “being who they are, I was doing what I was told. Anything they get in, they get out of.”

Perhaps he owed a dealer who didn't have much of a sense of humor about it because he'd been fired and would have no further means to pay him.

Most news outlets were reporting that he had gone into “rehab” not specifying what kind of rehab. Along with the news he had stolen money from the law firm, I thought possibly he might have gone into gambling rehab. If he has a gambling addiction he could have been in deep debt with the wrong people who may have murdered his wife and son. I have only seen one report that mentions drug rehab.

Quite right; even now, there’s a bit of mob involvement in high-end gambling.

“It’s a different name because he turns into a completely — totally different person. So somebody will say, ‘All right. Here comes Timmy. We got to go,’” Cook said, who also recalled the moment before the 2019 accident saying Paul had slapped or pushed his own girlfriend before removing all his clothes, except underwear. “Paul for some reason acted like he was on drugs or something. He started taking his clothes off during one of the arguments, and it is 40 degrees outside. I’ve seen him do it a few times when gets drinks. I don’t know why he does that,” the cousin stated.
