A spokesperson for South Carolina's Law Enforcement Division confirmed to Fox News that state law enforcement had been asked to investigate a shooting in Hampton County and that the victim was the 53-year-old Murdaugh, but he could not release additional details.
"I have been told he is going to be OK," his brother, John Murdaugh, told Fox News...
Murdaugh was found on Salkehatchie Road in Hampton County Saturday afternoon...
Paul and Maggie Murdaugh, 22 and 52, were found shot to death on a family property in Islandton on June 7. The homicide case remains unsolved.
Shortly after Paul and Maggie Murdaugh were killed, state investigators said they found information that led them to reopen the investigation into the suspicious 2015 death of a 19-year-old man named Stephen Smith.
And at the time of the double murder, the younger Murdaugh was awaiting trial in connection with a deadly 2019 boat crash near Parris Island that killed 19-year-old passenger Mallory Beach and injured others.

The Murdaugh family have hurt a lot of people, and killed a few. I think somebody isn’t done getting a pound of flesh.
That’s a shame...
Never heard of them.
Well said.
This is unreal. Sooo many possibilities. I seem to remember that Alex has been a low-key person of interest even with his ironclad alibi. Seems there may have been evidence tampering at the scene of his family’s murders.
Would he stage something to take the heat off of him? That’s too crazy though- what if the shooter got off a good shot and killed him?
This is a classic southern mystery. Wonder where the other son was when daddy got shot?
I’m guessing that this is a high priority case, just under homeless people urinating on sidewalks.
This family is involved with 3 other deaths, Stephen Smith, Mallory Beach and their housekeeper Gloria Satterfield died of a trip and fall for which the Murdaugh’s insurance paid a half million dollar settlement.
So whatever’s going on, it’s deep and it’s ugly.
This is an extraordinary story - I agree with SEMom, it is like a film.
Looks like someone is doing what the police won’t do anything about.
What an incredible story.
Someone was taking care of ‘unfinished business’.
This family had enemies with a grudge. Not at all random.
I welcome a distraction from the “world” at the moment.
I read just now Murdaugh was shot in the head. He said he had car trouble and pulled over, a truck passed him, turned around, came back and someone in the truck shot him.

Seems...odd.
That a set up for a Hit .
Sabotage a truck to break down and just follow home.
Why do you assume guilt on his part of anything ?
Do You know them ?
Are they guilty by being successful ?
The hatred of successful people here is odd .
“The hatred of successful people here is odd .”
He is still considered the ‘person of interest’ in his wife’s murder.
His son was a belligerent drunk who killed his passengers.
If so- why didn’t they kill him? I don’t necessarily disagree, but if it were a hit, why isn’t he dead? I’m not familuar with the area, but it looks remote. How could a shooter miss?
Hmmmm. I have an extremely outside connection to this family. There are a few things that I know for sure, first of all, Paul, the son who was murdered was not living at the hunting lodge the night he was murdered along with his mother, he went to get some of his belongings. He was living with another family who had been friends for years, 100% sure of this. It is RUMORED that Alex the father, was not living there either and was living with another woman? Another RUMOR in the area is that the mother and son were chained to a fence?
Another important element. The father found his murdered wife and son which had to have been horrific. It is a very secluded estate surrounded by woods and very remote, in complete darkness, he is alone. The first thing he does is call 911, then for seven minutes he walks around the property while talking to 911 and tells the operator he is going back “down” to the murder scene Not once did he seem afraid for his own life, that the murderer could have still been there, hiding, ready to kill him. Then as he ends the call instead of saying, I am l locking myself in the house or leaving until the police get there, he says he has to call other family members.
I’ll wait for the movie to come out.
Don't assume what you read is the truth .
