Sept 3 (Reuters) - The U.S.-trained Afghan pilots and others held at a camp in Uzbekistan already feared being sent back to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. So it was little comfort when an Uzbek guard unsympathetically quipped the other day: "You can't stay here forever."
The offhand warning added to an already grinding sense of unease at the camp just across Afghanistan's northern border, recounted one of the Afghan pilots who fled there with aircraft when ground forces fell to the Taliban in August as the United states and its allies withdrew their forces.
What follows is the first, detailed inside account among Afghans who, for nearly three weeks, have been waiting in vain to be evacuated by the United States....

Why can’t they stay there forever? If other countries can take in thousands of Afghan refugees, Uzbekistan can take in a share. The Afghans will probably head for Europe eventually.
“Uzbekistan can take in a share.”
Uh, no. They are not obligated to become a more poor nation.
Afghan Allies must be honored for their service. Promises must be kept.
Oh man....the seething hatred for Biden that exists within the once free people of Afghanistan must just be palpable. And its just going to grow. Wouldn’t surprise me if some call for his (fillintheblank body part).
It’s good to see Reuters staying on the story. The nightly network news has left it in the dust. Not a single one carried a story on it last night and the cable news channels - except FOX - are avoiding it too. They’re all so happy they have the hurricane stories to cover instead.
“Promises must be kept.”
I certainly hope no one is holding their breath waiting for this Biden administration of weasels to keep any promises. Maybe the Brits will help these pilots.
The Brits will do their part but the UK Parliament voted to hold Biden in contempt.
So, there’s that.
Right there is something I am printing out and putting in my car rear window.
Thank you.
That is true, however, I will not let the Uzbecks off the hook. Where is their humanity?
Why didn’t they stay and fight?
Reuters daily propaganda piece to lobby for more 3rd world future Democrats and culture destroyers to be brought to our shores. Just a WAG, but I’d bet for every single Afghan that we owe a debt of gratitude to for assistance in the war, twenty are here for mayhem.
The Democrat motto of never letting a crises go to waste is now an active plan that creates the crises to exploit.
They can go to the Panshir Valley.
Excerpts:
In the final days and hours before losing the war to the Taliban, some Afghan pilots staged a stunning escape by flying 46 aircraft out the country before the Taliban could take them - more than a quarter of the available fleet of about 160 planes.
One U.S. military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, commended the Afghans in Uzbekistan for taking the planes out of Afghanistan.
“The only thing they knew to do was to fly every aircraft out of Taliban hands,” the official said, adding: “They believed in us.”
Aren’t these the pilots who deserted & took off with our planes & helicopters ?
The various countries of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkestan are all family and tribal members related by blood and kinship.
They are led by tribal "war lords" who are also cultural, agricultural, and economic leaders in their communities.
Notice the emphasis on tribal !
Notice the emphasis on "war lords", as they identify their leadership with the heritage of Genghis Khan
The various country demarcations were established by the British about 1917 era, and are arbitrarily and capricious in nature
since they are all tribal and are inter-related to each other.
That is why the Afghani pilots fled to Tajikistan with their aircraft, and why the northern Afghani troops fled to Tajikistan with their arms which they gave up at the border.
They surrendered, basically, to their distant cousins in order to escape the invader Taliban, ultra-orthodox zealot Muslims, who came from Pakistan.
Agreed, they will probably head for Europe .. eventually.
I have heard of the Afghani’s referring to the Pakistan invaders, whom we call Taliban, as “ bezerkers “ .
Yes.
Uzbekistan is right. Give them 6 months. Then it’s time to go elsewhere.
