I know a fellow in his late 40’s who has a relationship of 8 yrs.....both have their own apartments and appear perfectly ok as things are.

I don't remember if I responded to this or not. If I did, please excuse my poor memory.

I would be open to such a relationship as you describe if the courts were not insane. Recently there was a case in Canada where a very wealthy man was sued by his ex girlfriend for alimony under common law marriage rules. They never co-habitated. Didn't share bank accounts. Didn't share bills. According to law they didn't meet common law marriage requirements. The Judge ruled that they were emotionally married.

Therefore I have determined that there is my wife or nothing. #metoo really backfired on women. Good.

In this case neither are wealthy, which unfortunately always becomes an issue with a jilted partner married or not.

I do know this guy has left everything to his girlfriend in his will already even though they don’t live together.

People are going to do what they want in society regarding intimate relationships...there are no standards today. Heck people are even marrying animals legal or not. It’s an insane world.
