The gal that has cut my hair for the last 25+ years is from Vietnam. Her father, after the fall of Saigon, was asked to come into the police station. He had been some big shot in ARVN.
She remembers him heading out the door and saying he would be back soon after he answered a few questions. They didn’t hear from him for 2 years and had no idea if he was alive, dead, or what.
After another 2 years or so and a couple of letters they were able to visit him.
2 or more years and a couple of letters later he was released. He and his wife made it to the states. He just passed away last fall.
I have a feeling that the Taliban won’t be as compassionate as the communist Vietnamese.
