During an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," McMaster, who served in the Trump administration, acknowledged that "we all share responsibility" for what he dubbed a "one-year war fought 20 times over," adding that the decision to withdraw troops was a costly one.
"And, of course, what's sad about it is this war ended in self-defeat, Chuck. I mean, we had a sustainable effort in place several years ago that if we had sustained it, we could have prevented what's happening now," McMaster told host Chuck Todd. "Instead, what we did, Chuck, is actually we surrendered to a jihadist organization and assumed that there would be no consequences for that. And we're seeing the consequences today."

PhD thesis turned into a book and he still screwed it up.
What’s this “we”, kimosabe? Biden surrendered.
Who is this "we" this clown speaks of?
bumblin' biden alone responsible for the catastrophic afghanistan retreat.
Multiple past administrations of both parties do share the blame for the futile
attempt to build afghanistan into a modern, civilized country.
Democrats: snatching utter defeat from any other possible option
I haven’t read the thread yet, but I’m wondering who will be the first dumb-ass to pop up and say we should stay in Afghanistan...
dont listen to this guy
he is a snake
a “one-year war fought 20 times over,”
I’d call it nation building.
When Democrats are caught red-handed the default becomes, “Everyone does it.” This is a variation of that false and lame excuse.
Maybe a there’s blame to go around regarding the prosecution of the Afghan war, but it is exclusively Joe Biden’s complete train wreck screw up that has us where we are now.
He’s referring to the fact that the negotiated withdrawal was done by his boss, a dealmaker by the name of Donald J. Trump. Our end of that deal was the release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners and the exit from Afghanistan.
No doubt McMaster was personally involved in the negotiation and/or implementation of that deal. Thus the “we”.
The closest we’ve gotten to an admission of culpability. Still weak sauce though.
Just an extension of the self-defeat we suffered on Nov 3rd, 2020.
