“Texas is being californified in a sped up way.”
I believe the verb is “Californicated.”

In my apt building a studio apt is $1,250. That was last years price. It probably has gone up since.
Getting far too expensive to own a home around here in southern California!
In 1996 the price was $181,412
In 2021 the price is $801,344 !!!

Rent is up in Atlanta metro area. Mine went up over 20%. I am not happy about it but I know it’s from the covid chaos. I am penalized for paying rent on time every month

Thanks for the correction.

NY is not a “ghost town.” I am in Manhattan half the week and rents have been going back up for awhile, and they never got cheap even in the dark days of mid-2020.

"Still, Roberts thinks increasing the supply of new units will help stabilize the market. For now, he estimates the average monthly rent in Austin at $1,572 per unit — right on pace with the national average. Roberts compared that with around $1,370 and $1,400 in Dallas and Houston, respectively. He also noted that Dallas saw a 10% increase over the past year. "Here are the 10 states with the highest average rent:
- Hawaii ($1,617)
- California ($1,503)
- Maryland ($1,392)
- New Jersey ($1,334)
- Massachusetts ($1,282)
- New York ($1,280)
- Colorado ($1,271)
- Washington ($1,258)
- Alaska ($1,244)
- Virginia ($1,234) https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/average-rent-by-state
