Equal opportunity used to be the goal. Equal before the law. It was a tremendous experiment.
Equal results is a nice theory, call socialism, which leads to communisms and facism.

Life isn’t fair, suck it up.
Nobody owes anyone else a living.
Bah, humbug. Get off my lawn. #;^)
This is a difficult read, but the thrust of the article points to the absurd taxation that penalizes the more industrious — and the ironic attraction to the perceived liberty.
“They tend to live in egalitarian surroundings – they and their neighbors are all equally poor. (The country with the highest percentage of would-be immigrants is Liberia.)”
This article would be better if the author knew what he was talking about.
Most countries in Africa have extreme income inequality with most of the population extremely poor and a small handful of ultra rich who usually get that way by corruption.

I like to ask lefties if they believe in evolution or creation. When they answer evolution I ask, then why would you expect equal outcome? Then I usually have to explain that evolution dictates unequal outcomes. No surprise they don’t even understand what what they think they believe in.
“there are 138 million people in the world today who would like to immigrate to the United States”
Nonsense. Low by a factor of at least ten.
I don’t think all people should be made equal but a worker should be able to afford the most modest home and healthcare in a civilized nation.
When I grew up, my parents bought a home working as a taxi driver and waitress. And we could afford 2 cars and nice vacations. Today’s young people think I was dreaming when I tell them this.
Today the same lifestyle for young people is only affordable to the generational rich (including family connections to get jobs) or people talented enough to do jobs like software engineering. And they look down upon people like waitresses who can’t afford a hovel or take a sick day and say “get a real job”
