California lawmakers are considering enacting a sweeping COVID-19 vaccination mandate that would require residents to show proof of vaccination to enter many businesses statewide — but it may not come until after the Gavin Newsom recall election.
The Sacramento Bee obtained a leaked version of the legislation, which would require restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, hotels, sports stadiums and more to screen patrons for proof of vaccination. Similar policies have been launched in San Francisco and New York City, but the California proposal would be the first statewide legislation.
Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks, an Oakland Democrat, is one of the leading proponents of the mandate but told the Bee she is unsure whether lawmakers will consider the legislation before the current session ends on Sept. 10 or wait for when lawmakers to reconvene in January.

If the GOP had any brains (which they do not), they could make significant inroads with black and hispanic voters opposed to mandatory vaccines.

The California Legislature has the supermajorities necessary to enact this even if Newsom is replaced by Elder. But it will lead to the recall of most of the legislature.

It looks like folks are figuring out they can have phony vaxx docs to use to enter restaurants or other sites—the worst that happens (unlikely) is that they get turned away at the door.
While it is a bad idea to lie to employers, there is zero risk in lying to local businesses.
They can replace Critical Race Theory with Critical Vaccination Status Theory.

It mentioned residents; what about visitors from states that don’t have shot mandates, and who can’t get shots due to medical, religious, or conscience reasons?

I find it rather interesting that millions of people in the US will refuse to buy GMO food but will stand in line to get a drug injected into them that likely alters their DNA.
