In times of crisis, we look to our heroes. And, though the Afghanistan development seems insurmountable at this point, we’re relieved by a new group of heroes who stepped up to the plate.
We’ve been hearing of growing violence in the region, with Americans stranded behind enemy lines amid the Taliban’s growing presence, yesterday’s ISIS attack that killed at least 13 U.S. service members and wounded 15 others, and re-surging persecution of vulnerable groups. But one group of all-volunteer special forces veterans of the Afghan war wasn’t going to take the Taliban’s abuse lying down.

With the Taliban growing more violent and adding checkpoints near Kabul’s airport, an all-volunteer group of American veterans of the Afghan war launched a final daring mission on Wednesday night dubbed the “Pineapple Express” to shepherd hundreds of at-risk Afghan elite forces and their families to safety, members of the group told ABC News.
Moving after nightfall in near-pitch black darkness and extremely dangerous conditions, the group said it worked unofficially in tandem with the United States military and U.S. embassy to move people, sometimes one person at a time, or in pairs, but rarely more than a small bunch, inside the wire of the U.S. military-controlled side of Hamid Karzai International Airport.
The Pineapple Express’ mission was underway Thursday when the attack occurred in Kabul. A suicide bomber believed to have been an ISIS fighter killed at least 13 U.S. service members — 10 U.S. Marines, a Navy corpsman, an Army soldier and another service member — and wounded 15 other service members, according to U.S. officials.

There were wounded among the Pineapple Express travelers from the blast, and members of the group said they were assessing whether unaccounted-for Afghans they were helping had been killed.
As of Thursday morning, the group said it had brought as many as 500 Afghan special operators, assets and enablers and their families into the airport in Kabul overnight, handing them each over to the protective custody of the U.S. military.

I’d love to interview and get on record all these guys and others that are jumping through hoops to get three guys out.

I do not care what they did for our troops. Prior to yesterday, over 2400 US service members gave their lives to make that place livable. And now, we 15 more to add to the list. Those debts have been paid.
These former SF guys are getting out their terps and former ANA soldiers. How about they all head northeast and like up with Massoud to fight the Taliban
There are an estimated 15,000,000 men in Afghanistan. An estimated 60-70,000 Taliban. If one or two percent decided to challenge the Taliban it’d be over in a day. But the ones that are staying were always loyal to the Taliban. The others just want the free ride in America.

Still though, those contractors are there on the American taxpayers dime and they are looking to save Afghanis before American citizens. To hell with them.
