No, America does not work.

The stark truth is that there is not a single institution in America to which patriotic conservatives can look for salvation. Not one.

If the worst of my fears are confirmed that we are shortly to be overwhelmed by an economic disaster the whole of the country will then clearly see that the country does not "work."

In that time of crunch there will be no institution that can defend us or defend our constitutional democracy against the inevitable public outcry for a strongman, or at least a strong state, to "save" us.

People survive even in Cuba (spending valuable time socializing in queues) or North Korea.
