I remember something like this happening in Colorado in the 80s. Truckers just pulled up alongside each other and blocked I-25 all the way across. Even the side of the roads and the medians. Completely stopped everything northbound.

I think it happened in DC a few years ago too...

There were some scattered protests in places.
The Big One was the 73-74 shutdowns during the oil embargo. One mad driver, almost out of fuel and with only his CB, organized a shutdown on I80 in PA that spread around the country.
