Adam Schiff is only making these comments in preparation for leaks about the obscene amount of money the U.S. government is bribing the Taliban to allow people to leave.
The old saying that wars are won with logistics is at play here.
In order to get all of the Americans, Afghans, AND withdrawing our troops will take a lot more time than we have. In order to get our troops on the ground out, that will take a couple of days of constant flights—with an ever shrinking perimeter.
They will need to put a couple of AC gunships flying around that airport to keep the Taliban at bay.
In the end there will be a lot of people dead on the other side of the wire. And...how many shells need to be lobbed onto the air strip to ruin the effectiveness of the air field.
How many osprey do we have in theater that could make the trip to Kabul and back?
The logistics of this whole thing were bad from the start.
Notice that very few talking heads are discussing the withdrawl—the final extraction.
This is going to end very, very badly. And this is before the Taliban start shooting those left behind.
