My daughter is an RN in ICU. She claims about 75% of those in ICU with COVID are the vaxxed. Of course, I don’t believe her when I know for a fact from people like you that serious conditions for the vaxxed are very rare.
There's a myth repeated by almost everyone on the planet, that vaccines make iCOVID less severe. They don't. In Mass, there are 10,000 breakthrough cases, at least 5% get hospitalized and 1% die. That's the same outcome as the unaxxed. The myth has created a situation where vaxxed people go take risks (e.g. indoor crowds) or are forced to take risks (office work) and believe they will be fine if they happen to get COVID. Yes, they will be fine, like 95% of people who get COVID. Yes they won't die like 99% of people with COVID.
But no, the vax does not protect once they get COVID. What the vax does is make it less likely to get COVID. Same Mass stats: 10,000 breakthrough cases among 4.4. million vaccinated. That's a very low rate, at least 10 times, maybe 20 times lower than the unvaxxed. What your RN daughter is seeing is not representative of the actual risk of getting COVID while vaxxed. It is a very small portion of the total vaccinated population.
What state is your daughter in? We can just look up the actual numbers and not rely on anecdotes. It won’t be 75%.
Not our experience in the ICU where I work as an RN...local condtions may vary. In our area...15 percent of covid sufferers get sick enough to need some sort of hospitalization. Of those in hospital, 15 percent become critically ill and need the ICU. We will lose 80 percent. Our numbers of at large in hospital admitted Covid sufferers are 77 percent unvaxxed, 15 percent unknown and 8 percent vaxxed. Nearly 95 percent admitted to our ICU right now are unvaxxed. We have had few vaxxed patients in our ICU for covid and the few that were were cancer and other immune compromised persons that the vaccinations were never going to do anything for. Most vaxxed patients in our hospital got better quickly with supportive care in hospital and went home.
Now time will tell if the vaxxed numbers of covid patients will start to resemble the numbers of unvaxxed due mainly to the immunity afforded by the vaxxes waining over time.
