KABUL, Aug 19 (Reuters) - The Taliban called on Afghanistan's imams to urge unity when they hold their first Friday prayers since the Islamist group seized control of the country, as protests against the takeover spread to more cities on Thursday, including the capital, Kabul.
Several people were killed when Taliban militants fired on a crowd in the eastern city of Asadabad, a witness said. Another witness reported gunshots near a rally in Kabul, but they appeared to be Taliban firing into the air.

Funny, when our downfall of America started with chip on their shoulder minorities and ethnic groups, plus sexual perverts. Each demanded special extra rights and privileges and to be separate with their own languages (press 2, press 3) and communities at war with the American Way of Life. They chafed at unity.

It seems that contact with westerners and Americans for 20 years has rubbed off somewhat on the Afghans. They’re standing up for themselves against tyrants despite threats of violence and actual violence. Good thing they never met Washington apparatchiks.

What if people don’t want to unite with the Taliban and don’t want them in power?
Biden and his party don’t care. They don’t care one bit that people are getting brutally murdered and raped. They don’t care one bit that Americans are there, left to be brutalized. They don’t care one bit that people now have no rights. It doesn’t affect them, so it’s not their problem.
They call it compassion.
I have my doubts as to how long the Taliban are going to be in charge. The people just ain’t cooperatin.

The word hasn’t yet been invented to describe what it really is. Cowardice? No. Ordering braver, better men than you to pull foot and leave is not personal cowardice. That can be done from the privacy of the West Wing or Camp David. To be a coward, one has to be in harm’s way and act the coward. It can’t be done vicariously. Mis-rule? Failing to balance a budget is mis-rule. General fuk-up-ery? Too vague again.
How about “pulling a Biden”? Yeah! That’s it! This’ll be attached to his name forever.
I hope you’re right. It’ll be a near thing, though, even in a best-case scenario.
They better be ready to fight for that. Afghanistan’s a warrior society, but the Taliban are warriors, too.
