“Our hospital capacity, really the capacity that we have based on the staffing that we have, is reaching a critical point,”

"Gee, if only we had some kind of warning, we could have planned for surges in capacity. But, given that Covid is a brand new phenomenon that just popped up a few days ago, we had no idea we could be hit with this virus."

“Our hospital capacity, really the capacity that we have based on the staffing that we have, is reaching a critical point”

My wife has worked at three hospitals over the years and every time they start this we are full or at max capacity it enrages her. She says almost word for word the quote above.

At one facility they were licensed for 85 beds. She said at most if they had too they might could fill 50 beds with greatly——greatly reduce staff to patient ratio. She said they were staffed to operate 30-35 beds and when they ran out of staff they simply didn’t open the other beds.
