Much has been made of the similarities between what we’ve witnessed in Kabul, Afghanistan and the fall of Saigon in 1975. These comparisons are entirely appropriate, to be sure. Like the South Vietnamese in 1975, any Afghans who placed their trust in the ally-ship and promises of the United States very likely await torture and death at the hands of the murderous scourge which had been held at bay by American resolve and military might. It is only the absolute certainty of such a horrific fate that led South Vietnamese would-be refugees to cling to boats and helicopters as the Americans evacuated, just as Afghans clung for dear life to departing American airplanes.
The similarities are obvious. What may not be so obvious to some, though, is the contrast between the America that I’ve known all my life and what the events in Kabul signify that America has become.
My America was different than my parents’ America, you see.
My father left home at a young age to fight the communists, in defense of South Vietnam. His treatment by his countrymen upon his return was the most shameful violation of the public trust imaginable, and that internal stain upon our national soul was rivaled only by the global stain of our complete abandonment of the promises made to our allies in South Vietnam.
In the Carter years leading up to 1980, America was in a state of economic stagnation and social malaise, while American credibility and its resolve to protect its national interests in the face of the communist threat on the global stage was little more than a punchline to an old joke in the eyes of our many enemies abroad.

I’d go back the stolen elections, Nov 3rd 2020.
Afghanistan was a tragedy, but we had no business staying in there in first place. The Afghans were not looking to modernize, most of them.
You can’t lead a horse to water and make him drink.
One can talk about a comparison, but one also has to admit that today’s Vietnam is more capitalistic and less corrupt than at any point in the 1970s/1980s.
With this Taliban (version 2.0) crew? It’s an unknown. So far, they haven’t acted like the 1990s crew, and maybe there’s slightly higher hopes.
Mark my words indeed, the Obama Biden Rino axis of evil will snatch defeat from the jaws of Cold War victory and re up the Soviet-China-terrorism axis in the region and world.
If they join the 8th century, it’s progress.
You mean Bush’s compassion of winning hearts and minds while now abandoning women in position of power in Afghanistan?
I do not share in that Hope Dope and Change of Obama mixed with Islam and Bush bullsht Blindspot.
Islam has always been the foreign invading doctrine when culture is getting damaged.
It rather is Vietnam which will end up Muslim in the end over time. Islam is the religion that maintains the globalist localist retarded mindset, the only religion of the schizo NWO.
“... at least it is not the 1800s with American slavery, it is 2021, with the queers in charge...”
I watched a documentary on Morgan Freeman’s great grand parents who started out “as slaves in the South”. They never say they actually started as slaves in Africa under islam, then moved as such to America to be freed later.
Nope, that is not the America for the pilgrims narrative the communists want to hear.
Last night, via Afghan TV....interview took place with a female journalist/moderator and a high uppity-up of the new Taliban government. In 1990s, that would not have occurred.
Orders given not to break into homes or loot? So far, that has been noted.
One obvious factor here....the 1990s Taliban were heavily influenced by bin Laden’s crew (heavily Saudi religious folks). You get the impression that the backers of this Taliban group are slightly different (maybe Iranian-influenced).
At the end of the day, all that money, training, blood, sweat and fake democracy stuff didn’t really matter or help. The country folded fairly quickly.
This is Taliban 2.0. They know they can dial things back a bit and the west will finance their consolidation of power. I think in the end they will prefer to partner with weak west instead of the Chicoms.
The US cut off billions of Afghan money in US accounts. So it may be the Taliban are toning it down until they can get those funds.
There is already talk of resuming “aid” projects in Afghanistan. Muslims know how to play the west. The Taliban are a mostly a Pakistani op. So look at how Pakistan scams the west to see the future of Afghanistan.
Its all about money and keeping the military machine engaged
Trump tried to stop a lot of the UNCLE SUCKER stuff.
We could go back to the stalemate in Korea. Rather than Reagan being a sign of the resurgence of the American Empire, he probably should be seen like Trump as a temporary upward blip on America’s downward spiral.
Reagan’s America died the day Bush I became President.
While it has been documented that Bin Laden was actually supported by the Saudi and Pakistan and not by the West, he also was penetrated by Soviet agent Al Zwahiri
China and Russia have been propping these dudes for a long time and they have thus a deep contract with this incoming crop. They are pretty much the same Taleban except now the mask is partially off
