AUSTIN, Texas (NEXSTAR) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to his office, who said the Republican is in good health and experiencing no symptoms.

The diagnosis comes one day after he was recorded not wearing a mask at a crowded, indoor event full of supporters who also weren’t wearing masks.

How Soon After COVID-19 Exposure Should You Get Tested?

The coronavirus affects everyone differently, including the amount of time it takes to start experiencing symptoms or get confirmation that you have the virus. That said, here’s a general timeline you can expect and what else you should know:

COVID-19 can enter someone’s body immediately after exposure, but you likely won’t know you have it right away.

There’s an incubation period for COVID-19. If you test too soon after exposure, it can result in a false negative. In one study on false negative rates after COVID-19 exposure, researchers found that in the four days prior to symptom onset, the probability of a false negative was extremely high on day one. The probability of a false negative on day four was around 67%.

This is why experts don’t recommend getting tested the day after being in a potential exposure situation.

The test is not reliable. It is very possible he does not even have Covid. The CDC is going to throw away the test at the end of the year because it is not reliable.

“according to his office, who said the Republican is in good health and experiencing no symptoms.”

He like many millions of others is probably experiencing the dreaded Covid PCR test 90% false positive rate after his specimen was oversampled around 40 times. It is harmless but others you come into contact with can also test positive... proving that 90% false positive results are highly contagious.

That Huffington Post article forgot to mention that the false positive rate on day 5 was around 90%. So what is a governor to do?

Normal people just think “I Think I have a cold, oh well.” then they go about their business and it goes away..

Do you have a major health issues and make you so nervous?

If that were true, he wouldn’t be on the new treatment that DeSantis is supporting. Plus the governor begged for a booster.

It was the first article that came up in a Bing search that addressed the idiotic assertion of the article I posted that somehow Texas Governor Abbott came down with Covid at an event he attended one day ago. The Huffington Post article pretty much made the case that this news article was FOS (Full of Schiff).

Abbot gets tested everyday.

A positive PCR test does not mean he is sick.

I’m not arguing with anything you comment on. My purpose of posting the article is that it was trying to blame the governors positive test was because he attended this event mask free.

Please provide a scientific source of your assertion of 90% false positive rate. Would love to see the data and peer reviewed science behind your assertion.

Here is one of dozens of studies showing exactly opposite of that number with confidence intervals of 95%+ the gold standard of the scientific method.

Thanks for the laugh. Where do you get your info? Here is what it said in the article, “The diagnosis comes one day after he was recorded not wearing a mask at a crowded, indoor event full of supporters who also weren't wearing masks.”

He couldn't have caught it at that event and then tested positive the next day. Of course the current batch of PCR tests can give you a positive for a cold, the flu, a bad hang nail, or any other ailment you might have. So there is no way to know what caused his positive result. But fortunately if you get “vaccinated” CDC protocol now limits your PCR test to 25 oversampling cycles when looking for "break through infections", so the hangnail might slip past it.

Yes.

It’s all propaganda and all demonization all the time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Agreed, however....he’s receiving monoclonal antibodies, which is odd if he really doesn’t have symptoms. I am wondering if they are claiming he’s asymptomatic to downplay the impact of his infection. I dunno
