'The buck stops with me,' says Biden but then proceeds to blame Afghan fiasco on Trump and locaIs who failed to fight the Taliban - before ducking questions and fleeing for Camp David
Daily Mail UK ^ | Augustb 16,2021 | By ROB CRILLY, SENIOR U.S. POLITICAL REPORTER and NIKKI SCHWAB

President Joe Biden cut his trip to Camp David short and returned to the

White House Monday to deliver remarks on Afghanistan

He defended his decision to bring home U.S. troops despite the Taliban's rapid capture of Kabul

But he admitted that the rapid collapse unfolded much faster than anyone expected

'So what's happened? Afghanistan's political leaders gave up and fled the country,' he said

But critics said it was not the decision to leave, but the manner of the abrupt departure that caused chaos

Biden was originally supposed to stay at Camp David until Wednesday as part of an August vacation

The trip triggered criticism that the commander was out of sight as

Afghanistan crumbled into chaos

He returned to the presidential retreat immediately after delivering his speech

It was the first time the president had spoken publicly about the unfolding crisis in six days. He was forced to return from Camp David amid hostile headlines about his absence from Washington while Americans were being rescued from Kabul airport.

He admitted missteps during the past two decades and described the chaos at Kabul airport, where throngs of Afghans are desperately seeking escape, as 'gut wrenching.'

'I am president of the United States of America,' he said. 'And the buck stops with me.'

But only up to a point. He said the blame for such a rapid disintegration lay not with him, but his predecessor as president and Afghanistan's leaders.

'The truth is - this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated,' he said, his eyes narrow.

'So what's happened? Afghanistan's political leaders gave up and fled the country.

'The Afghan military collapsed, sometimes without trying to fight.'

Well, he’s given the media their talking point (blame it on Trump)

**************

I don’t think anyone is buying it. This fiasco unfolded after Biden has been in office 8 months. There was plenty of time to plan for an orderly withdrawal. He owns this mess.

This whole thing smacks of string pulling. Buttden isn’t this stupid. Someone is orchestrating this to happen just as it has happened. All part of the plan.

This is a disaster of biblical proportions or as close to it as Americans care to be

That’s actually how I’m seeing this. The fallout will almost certainly be epic. We’re just getting started...

Buckle up.

Bidon sized up the situation, thought about how long socialist bureaucrats would take to perform the task, and cut that time in half.

The jihadi’s are not bureaucrats. They performed the task in days

I wonder what Hillary Clinton thinks about all of this since she has a lot of experience in this kind of thing.

Maybe Jimmy Carter has something to say too.

Foreign policy is such a strong point with Democrats.

Absolutely breathtaking the amount of destruction that bunch has wrought in such short a time frame. Makes Obozo look like Ronald Reagan compared to this. Making it to the 4 year mark as an intact nation - or planet - is looking grim.

Biden will be blaming Trump. Watch this video for the facts:

“Mike Pompeo calls out Biden's 'pathetic blame shifting' on Afghanistan.”

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!

He is packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge...

I saw the one-star General who didn’t even have is name tag on his uniform.

Isn’t that considered being out of uniform?

No idea, but would seem so.

“Essentially, the generals made no provision for air support during the withdrawal and no plan for securing or disabling the advanced military weapons and technology we had there.”

If true every single one of them should face a Court Martial.

Every single one.

It's good that someone is watching CNN and reporting on it so the rest of us don't have to watch CNN.

If they keep bashing Biden, it may be a signal that the move to replace him with Kamala is not far off.

If Kamala becomes President, it will be interesting to see who she is told to select for the new Vice President. Some token like Buttigieg or Booker who could be impeachment insurance because no one would want that person as President, or someone marginally competent who might have a shot at winning the 2024 election? (Of course they probably figure that they will be able to cheat again on a massive enough scale that even Biden or Harris could win.)

Booty-Gig will be the VP for a while, then resign, AND defeat Kamalamadingdong in the 2024 primary/caucus. Booty-Gig will lose to DeSantis in the Nov. election.
