In the case of Afghanistan, I believe Biden was given the information on the unreliability of the Afghan Defense Forces. He lied about the IC's assessment. I came to that conclusion when a reporter pressed Biden about the IC's consensus on Afghanistan and the Taliban taking over. The wording of the question indicated to me that someone in the Intel Community leaked the information about dissent within the IC to the media.
It will be interesting to see how much cover the MSM provides Biden over Afghanistan.

6:45 – And what happens is then you go to another county in your state and you get the same 83 numbers in the same order. You know that’s not real. You know there’s some kind of algorithm operating. Something is controlling what’s happening. That’s not natural.
— What if you go to every county in your state and they’re all the same? Then you know that’s not real. That’s how you can know. Now you don’t have to be a math genius, you just know… 83 times in a row? That’s just not right.

I always thought he was a good commander. He looked after his people. I spoke to him many times in often day-to-day situations.
But...He didn’t listen if he already made up his mind. He was so stubborn we had to trick him into getting things we needed by weaseling our rationale to consider his biases.
In fairness, however, this is usually how a military staff works, anyways, because most don’t get to flag rank without being pompous bastards in the first place! I could count the few commanders who sought out different opinions on one hand.
The nation gets mixed results. The Civil War comes to mind. On the Union side, the pompous bastards were in charge for the first couple of years—you can read about the results.
We were lucky in WWII to have Ike—who sought out opinions, as did Nimitz, and Patton, LeMay and Halsey—who just didn’t give a damn; but we had the same chumps we always had, too. MacArthur*, Mark Clark, Lucas, Rupertus, Fredenhall, Turner, British Monty, the list is long.
*I actually liked MacArthur, and did a study on his Southwest Pacific campaign, including a tour of his headquarters in Melbourne and Brisbane Australia. Still, his behavior on December 8th, 1941 is still unexplainable.

NO ONE deserves to be given positive credit just because they are a member of some group. Police, Military, MEDICAL. etc.
People are People and they all have their own minds biases and hubris. Just look at the group here, if you do not like someone's view you go off on a tangent that has no relevance to the subject.
