There has to be some limit.
Poland lost more people in WWII, as a percentage of the population, than any other country, as I recall.
Poland never surrendered, never accepted German occupation.
The Nazis slaughtered an estimated 2.2 million Belarusians. Belarus lost an estimated two out of four of their population.
Hitler hated Slavs just as much as Jews.
Poles are Slavs. But Westerners tend to ignore the Belarusian Holocaust because they were a part of the hated Soviet Union.
I recommend the 1985 Soviet film “Come And See”. The screenwriter fought with the Belarusian Partisans and the film is based on real events, although the main character was fictional.
Warning: The film is extremely hard to watch. What the Nazis did to the Belarusians was atrocious.
