For nearly three years, ABC10's Fire - Power - Money team has been at the forefront covering California's wildfire crisis, the danger of PG&E's power lines, and how the company avoids accountability.
Now, ABC10’s award-winning investigative series reveals how California’s state government, under Governor Gavin Newsom, responded to PG&E’s deadly crimes by giving the company rewards and protection.

OTOH, PG&E is limited in its abilities to take actions to prevent fires, by the State.

Speaking of “power and money”, what ever happened to that ONE BILLION DOLLARS that Newsom sent to the Chinese last year… supposedly for masks?
It is all a matter of priorities. PGE has to go green by dictate from the state. There seems to be lots of money solar and wind. Californians think that if they don’t stop global warming on their own everyone will die in a few years so the loss of a few lives is of little concern. It is all for the common good.
I used to live there. Now I don’t recognize the place.
The Long Knives are out for Gruesome Newsome. He’s going down.
Newsom was paid off. He was not the first politician in the state to look the other way.
Former gov Jerry Brown has a sister who sits on the board of Sempra Energy which owns Southern California Gas. The oil company that let the massive 4 month long methane gas leak to happen forcing more than 2,300 homes to be evacuated.
There was a delay in investigating the gas leak and you now know why.
Jerry Brown also had the taxpayers pay for exploring land for oil he inherited but none was found.
Politicians believe in oil drilling if they make money!
#4 It was $1.4 billion. No masks ever showed up.
I believe the money was payment for his future run for president which will not happen now. Cuomo stole $600 million from HUD and ran for governor of New York.
The money dissipates thru all the corrupt democrat party members.

Today Newsom defended his decision to order $1.4 billion in protective equipment from a consortium that includes BYD — a Chinese company with a subsidiary that manufactures electric buses in California — following a Vice News report over the weekend critical of the company.
PG&E, being a public utility, is dependent on the goodwill of the State, both its PUC and the political powers in Sacramento. So it has always “played ball” with the powers that be. That means, often enough, doing stupid things like cooperating with “alternate energy” fads and various mountebanks that have acquired political backing in CA. There has been a long series of these.
On the other hand, the State needs a functional energy system. PG&E is “too big to fail”, because it is very difficult to replace, in its services and organization, of both the electric power grid (including all the transmission lines that are the backbone), as well as the centrally managed gas transmission and distribution system.
Its possible to sell off local distribution in a small area to a municipality, or a power plant here and there, but someone has to run the whole monstrous thing. And then there are all the vast areas in between, where no-one wants to, or can, take over.
