We used to call this crime "prostitution" or "soliciting a prostitute" and in most places, it was a low-level nuisance crime and a misdemeanor.
But we relabeled it "human trafficking" and now people are calling for 20-year prison sentences.
They have moved people around and across state lines. Human trafficking fir sec purposes does involve prostitution. It also involves much more. It deserves a life sentence
There is a substantial difference between a person choosing to be a sex worker (whore) and one who is kidnapped, duped or coerced (victim). Twenty years seems fair enough if they have not treated their victims badly; not enough if they committed or enabled rapes, beatings and other mistreatment.
