Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday that he plans to travel to his Italian estate for 10 days beginning this week as COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and other metrics continue to rise in New Jersey.
Murphy said he was planning to leave on Tuesday evening to join his wife and children at their multimillion-dollar estate about two hours north of Rome.
The State Department has issued an advisory recommending that travelers reconsider going to Italy due to COVID-19. Anyone coming to the U.S. from Italy must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel.
Murphy said he plans to return a week from Thursday but would do so sooner if need be. He said he would be in touch daily with acting Gov. Sheila Oliver and Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli and other Cabinet members.

Jack was just in Israel. He has no chance of winning. He hasn’t even commented on Cuomo resigning.
