Biden demands OPEC boost oil production amid rising gas prices

The White House is pressuring OPEC and its allies to boost oil production in a bid to tackle rising gasoline prices — despite imposing tighter restrictions on US oil companies last year.

Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan issued a statement on Wednesday urging OPEC — the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries — to move faster to restore global supply of gasoline to pre-pandemic levels.

“Higher gasoline costs, if left unchecked, risk harming the ongoing global recovery. The price of crude oil has been higher than it was at the end of 2019, before the onset of the pandemic,” Sullivan said.

Shuts down American energy independence, killing off thousands of American jobs, then helps the Russians with their pipeline and now encouraging OPEC to increase production?

Oh my! These leftist are insane.

And OPEC says, “Stick it up your flabby butt and spin on it geezer.”

Just before they grant base leases to the chicoms and just before the chicoms take over arfghanistan.

"“Higher gasoline costs, if left unchecked, risk harming the ongoing global recovery. The price of crude oil has been higher than it was at the end of 2019, before the onset of the pandemic,” Sullivan said.

This must be part of a series of preliminary statements leading up to a really big administration lie.

And don’t forget that he is also asking for an investigation into pricing. A classic democrat ploy they use every time to shift the blame for their failed and dangerous energy policies onto the oil companies

I certainly am a Freeper, and I forget a lot of things, but there are things I won’t ever forget.

For my part, something I won’t forget ever, is being energy dependent to, and held hostage by entities such as members of OPEC and the Russians who hate us and would rather see us dead, and us having to go hat in hand and ask them not to embargo us as happened in 1973, or to tell us to go pound sand, as they have repeatedly done over the years when we asked them to increase or decrease output.

Trump was President. It is his JOB to advocate for American companies, and it is well within his boundaries, responsibilities, and expectations of the electorate for President Trump to make those requests to foreign companies. If he did not, he would be negligent.

It is also within the responsibilities and rights of those entities he asks to tell our President to go pound sand which they have done in the past, and which I expect they did.

Sympathizing with foreign governments who wish us ill with a burning virulence and would stick a knife in us at the first chance, for whatever reason they wish, just to be “fair” with them and to avoid lecturing them about free markets and economic stability instead of advocating for our own national interests and national security is not an attitude I want in anyone in a position of power.

I understand that to some, lecturing a country like Communist China about free markets and economic stability is out of bounds, as if it is somehow hypocritical do so. To draw an ideological or moral equivalence between the way business is conducted in the USA and the way it is conducted in China is a grave mistake. We are by no means perfect in the USA, but we do not operate as they do in Communist China. Yet.

And to say that the Communist Chinese have any ideological buy-in to “free markets” and “economic stability” (as we know it in the United States) does just that, it draws an ideological or moral equivalence where there is none.

And by the way-what happened to those US energy companies is nothing new.

In a world market where a fungible good like crude oil has market prices that can fluctuate up and down energy companies world wide are driven out of the market when it goes down, and are brought back into it when it comes back up. That is the nature of that industry. And the people who go in and out of that industry are well aware of it. Kudos to Trump for even asking for a reduction or increase in output, but anyone who expects Saudi Arabia, any other OPEC member, or Russia to say “Oh, you poor dears...of course we will cut/increase output to protect your energy industries or economy!” is naive, and that is about the best adjective I can think of.

I would rather flip them a giant middle finger and be energy independent and free of their energy blackmail, than to worry about whether I hurt their energy sector, economy, or feelings.

Just my opinion.

Trump’s embargo on Iran, his sanctions and our 100% self sufficiency in oil production was causing major economic and political strife for Iran. Sleepy Joe is trying his best, (and it’s working), to allow Iran to squash the protest and get the nukes they want. Anything for the cause, of communism.
