I left Seattle for 32 acres in rural Kentuck 10 years ago this month. I retired last month.
Life is very good now. I have almost no need to leave my property except to go to church or visit friends. And now that I've gotten the mancave going, I have little desire to. Still need to finish the walls, but lumber prices collapsed so I was able to get started finishing this thing off. :)

We also left the Seattle area for northern Michigan a few years ago.
Its red neck Trump country and we love it here.

I hear ya, the only thing keeping me here in E. WA is my 2 adult kids still live here.
Idaho is just a few miles away if things get too bad.
