Sen. Kennedy: Bipartisan $1T infrastructure bill full of ‘stupid stuff’
NY Post ^ | August 10, 2021 | By Samuel Chamberlain

“They told us it was a real infrastructure bill. It’s not; only 23 percent of the bill is real infrastructure, the rest is Green New Deal and welfare. They told us the bill was paid for; it isn’t, we’re gonna have to borrow maybe up to $400 billion to pay for it. They told us there were no tax increases. There are; my state’s gonna have to pay $1.3 billion in new taxes..."

“They told us … the Democrats were really wary of this bill and that if we passed this bill, it would make it harder for them to pass their $5 trillion tax and spending binge, reconciliation bill,” Kennedy added. “Well, if that’s true, how come every Democrat voted for this infrastructure bill? And finally, they told us that it’s not going to add to inflation, but it will.”

Despite the complaints of Kennedy and other Republican senators, the upper chamber is on track to pass the bill Tuesday morning and send it to the House, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has vowed to hold it until Senate Democrats pass a larger $3.5 trillion budget resolution on their own, with no GOP support.

So they all vote to end cloture just so they can claim that they really aren’t for the bill and would be voting against it? Yeah, that makes sense.

It's the John Kerry Protocol .... "I voted for it before I voted against it"

Did anybody seriously think otherwise?

It’s not an infrastructure bill. It’s a bag of political candy and political payoffs. Nothing substancial regarding tangible infrastructure such as new highway, bridges, airports, port facilities or other ‘real’ infrastructure projects.

Sounds like Republicans are A-OK with passing the Bill into law forest before finding out what is in it, like Pelosi said before the Obama-Care BS.

I emailed my 2 Senators, Tillis,rR and Burr,rR imploring them to vote NAY.
Told Tillis,rR my support hinges on his vote. Burr,rR is retiring and is a lost cause.
He’s made his , screw us.

If a private citizen who would normally vote Republican can see through these “infrastructure” & other insane bills, then why can’t our representatives understand it? Guess it has to be because their main (& perhaps ONLY) interest is staying in office. That in no way reflects the needs of our nation; only makes things worse. How do we go about electing people with no political aspirations beyond just doing what is right for our nation? Strict short term limits might help, if not solve the problem. The unfortunate thing is that the ones who would have to vote this into place are the very ones who won’t.
