The Florida Department of Health took to Twitter on Monday to ask the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention to update its COVID-19 case tracker for the state because it incorrectly combined "MULTIPLE days into one," which made the Sunday daily case count explode to the state's worst ever.
The department said it follows the CDC’s guidelines for reporting cases. The CDC reported 28,317 new cases on Sunday, which WSVN reported would mark the most confirmed infections in one day in the state since the beginning of the pandemic. Multiple media organizations picked up on the number and the department corrected the stories online with some bite.
Wrong again. The number of cases @CDCgov released for Florida today is incorrect," it responded to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "They combined MULTIPLE days into one. We anticipate CDC will correct the record."
The health department said there were 15,319 cases on Sunday, and a three-day average of 18,795. The CDC did not immediately respond to an after-hours email from Fox News about the issue.

PA was miscounting deaths from covid early on. If a nursing home resident died in the hospital they counted it as a death atf a nursing home and also the hospital. Both.
Looks like cases are going down if you look at the average number...

True but by combining the counts from multiple days the CDC would make it look like Sunday’s new cases would be “the most confirmed infections in one day in the state since the beginning of the pandemic”. Some DEEP STATE bureaucrat(s) in the CDC wanted to make Florida’s situation as bad as possible, IMHO.
All part of a coordinated smear on Gov DeSantis, by any means necessary. Can't have another proven, successful leader (other than DJT himself) run against a demented geriatric or a giggling ho.
These COVID hit pieces are mild compared to the lurid stuff that they'll make up as the '24 election season nears.
With the CDC, Homeland and Catholic Charities it's a lot of both...
It gave the media the soundbite they needed, “DeSantis is Killing People”.
And I’ll wager the FL DOH collided with the CDC.
And I’ll bet this is going on in a lot more states in addition to FL.
