Dem in the state legislature did this in Indiana 10 yrs ago (went to Illinois).
It went VERY badly for them in the next elections.

I think I see the problem. The group seems to consist of mostly women who trend to have emotional ideas concerning politics. They are so easily swayed with the group around them.
