A New Jersey gym owner who federal prosecutors say was among the initial group of people to forcefully enter the Capitol building on Jan. 6 has become the first riot defendant to plead guilty to assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Scott Kevin Fairlamb, who was previously indicted on 12 counts, pleaded guilty Friday in a remote hearing to one count of obstruction of an official proceeding and another for "assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers," the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia confirmed to The Hill.
The 44-year-old, who has been in jail since his Jan. 22 arrest, will appear in a sentencing hearing on Sept. 27, where he faces a maximum punishment of more than 20 years in prison.

Forcefully? You mean after the capitol hill gang invited scores of folks in? THAT forcefully?
If only he had shot an officer in Detroit and then burned down a Best Buy after stealing some TVs he wouldn’t have been charged.
Black Privilege.
Twenty years as opposed to “$bm’rs/pantyfa” released and told to try to behave in the future?
Meanwhile Antifa and BLM - genuine domestic terrorists — run free.
The Tyrants are stifling dissent like the British a long time ago.
five officers responding to the capitol riots have since died, four from suicide.
ugh.
this guys lawyer must have been so incompetent or the government prosecutors were so vicious.
Now we know what the Hong Kong protesters went through. Dissent will not be tolerated!
Sort of a side question - but I thought we citizens owned the capitol?? Is it usually illegal to enter?
Where are the jail sentences for the millions of BLM terrorists who robbed, looted, murdered, carried out arson, assaulted and killed police officers etc last year?
Funny how they’ve all disappeared as soon as the communist was installed in the White House.
Hmm.. How about the antifa clowns who threw rocks and bottles, molotov cocktails, fireworks and pointed lasers at cops?
I visited the Capitol Bldg and WH in 2017 after Trump took office. You had to go through a LOT of security to get in, including making a reservation on-line the day before.
Even more security than the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock.
So nobody with any common sense would think it was OK to just walk in.
Takeaway = Burn down anything in protest as long as it’s not in Washington DC. And of course you’re a molotov tossing Democrat or FBI informant who organized the whole thing.
You would if you had never been there before, a cop waved you in walked beside you and casually chatted with you as you went.

When I was there in 2017, there were specific procedures on how to gain access that any reasonably intelligent and informed person could use. I don’t know what it looked like in 2021.
No, they have him on video punching an officer. That's why he pleaded guilty to a felony. He's already lost his business and served 6 months in the DC Gulag, so I hope his lawyer negotiated a short sentence for that plea. I suspect he will get at least a few years. It's about "examples", not justice. If he were antifa or BLM, he never would have been arrested or charged.
Anybody with half a brain would expect a trap.
All the LEOs there are unionized federal and DC employees beholden to Democrats for their livelihood...similar to TSA.
