Sorry, but every new vaccine is experimental.
What I was trying to say was that for the experiment to be properly finished, the long-term results have to be observed, but we didn’t have time for that.
I was trying to point out that the lack of long-term results was NOT the factor that was keeping the vaccine from getting full approval. If it were, we would be years away from having that approval. It is the FDA’s own regulations. They can’t just PRONOUNCE. They have to actually do the inspections of the facilities and all the other pesky things that their own rules require before full approval.
What the former secretary of HHS was saying is “Get the vaccine now. You need it. The rest is just red tape.”
It’s not experimental according to the CDC, FDA definitions. We’re not waiting for any results. The long-term effects won’t be known until the long term.
My point was that there are other reasons why the vaccine does not have full FDA approval.
