You are absolutely correct there, Bikkuri, that Conservatives MUST champion the Second Amendment rights of those on the Left who are our enemies. For some time now, they have not been “political foes” but have been our enemies, because they are destructive to the country we love and wish for its destruction.

But we have to advocate for their rights under the Constitution, and that includes the Second Amendment. Same for the First Amendment. And the others.

I admit, I hate it sometimes. I really do. Sometimes, I despise it, but I do it nonetheless.

It is no coincidence to me that the vast majority of fatal shootings in this country over the years have been by Leftists or non-political people who are allied to the Left.

Leftism is all about emotion and not logic. Emotions and intentions count for everything in their world. As a result, because their beliefs are predicated on strong emotion instead of logic, there is a huge amount of inconsistency in their beliefs.

And that inconsistency sets up a huge amount of what is called cognitive dissonance, a very corrosive and destructive internal mental situation in which the human mind has to fit together different things that cannot be fitted to each other logically.

Humans rationalize this at the conscious level so they can continue to function, but often at a deeper level, the mind knows these different elements CANNOT coexist, and the internal mental strife that occurs in the unconscious level can express itself in inconsistent and unpredictable behaviors if not outright mental illness.

With all of this in mind, I often contemplate that we would all be much safer if there were special considerations and requirements for Leftists to own or use firearms.

But this is unfortunately, only idle contemplation.

Those on the Left wish to remove our ability to own firearms and defend ourselves on the basis of far, far less (or no basis at all) substantiative rationales.

We Conservatives believe everyone should have the right to keep and bear arms. And that includes those on the Left who we sometimes believe (as I often do) are too emotionally unstable to safely or responsibly own them.

So as much as I despise doing it, as you said, to protect our own Second Amendment rights, we have to champion and support their Second Amendment rights too. We can do that, because we think these things through logically, and we don’t succumb to the inconsistency and resulting cognitive dissonance that they suffer. The danger from them is simply something we have to accept and guard against.

Note: This is a key point in the Conservatism versus Leftism analysis: The ideas that WE as Conservatives support benefit those on the Left as well as ourselves, but they are too shallow and emotionally driven to see it. The ideas that those on the Left support harm not only Conservatives, but eventually, those on the Left as well.

Excellent post, and I agree 100%.

Along the same lines, I feel, as many here (and I am sure many/most non-FReeper conservatives) do, that they are so far delusional/gone, the we cannot co-exist. They need their own socialist/communist country (and it sure isn't here), hopefully/wishfully as far away as possible.

Sadly, this most likely will not be possible (at least not in our lifetime). It appears that if we can't at least get some control back, it may be the end of us 😟
