The details of the story are even creepier.
A prominent Chinese billionaire has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, the latest in a string of punishments against outspoken corporate bosses.
Sun Dawu runs one of the country’s largest private agricultural businesses in the northern province of Hebei.
Sun, 67, has in the past spoken out about human rights and politically sensitive topics.
He was found guilty of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” – a charge often used against activists.

Make no mistake: This kind of thing is — and always has been — the end game for the “hate speech” crowd. Once you begin criminalizing words it’s just the tiniest of steps to criminalizing thoughts and then you’re on a precipitous slippery slope that someone just slathered in motor oil.
Like all insidious leftist usurpations of freedom, the “hate speech” nonsense is presented as a way to make the world a better place, In a sense, it is, as the world is undoubtedly better for those who get to designate what is and is not hate speech.

No, because our billionaires work with the government in a type of corporate fascism. They would basically be jailing themselves. Much more likely to see jailing of those that criticize billionaire globalists (e.g. Jan 6 prisoners).

Depends on what kind of billionaire you are. China has lots of billionaires who choose to make money and shut the heck up ( while quietly sending their money and family members overseas ).
Jack Ma of Alibaba fame made a mistake by being too outspoken. We don’t even know his whereabouts. He just disappeared totally. Recent news is that his huge ownership of Alibaba shares have been stripped to ZERO.
Here in the USA, the unpopular billionaires I know are the Koch Brothers.
This is only one of a long list, which includes Jack Ma of billionaires, entertainers, writers and others that have been taken away by the CCP. Whatever this writer claims, it is a fact that no one is permitted to offend the CCP in any way- the list of offenses is not only retroactive, but continues to lengthen.
In China, its not about words, its about having too much influence, too much power, being a role model, being to popular - all of those things potentially threaten the CCP, and its fragile, paranoid old men. Here’s how an overseas Mainland Chinese student put it:

Well, they are 2/3 way there and Bill Ayers comment about 25 million who couldn't be reeducated is waiting in the wings as soon as the Obama team feels sufficiently in control.

That 25 million was decades ago - would have to be raised on population growth to 30-40 million.
Don’t know how familiar with Mao’s Cultural Revolution you are, but they are not even close to anything like 66% of the way there - more like 1% - 5%.
