Even if you assume his statement about "protecting the kids" is true, it's a rather amazing statement in terms of what it says about his thought processes. He clearly isn't even considering any other factor that may be affected by parents having to wear masks around kids. Human contact, speech, affection, teaching, even how willing parents will be to spend time around their kids -- he didn't consider any of that. The only factor he considered in making that recommendation was the possibility of transmitting Covid, as if that is the only consideration in life that matters any more.

To me, that is the fatal flaw in outsourcing decision-making on masks to these doctors. They have complete blinders on, and never consider the impact of factors outside of their particular speciality.

Wise analysis. Plus, the doctor is ignoring all of the other more prevalent vectors of transmission between parent and child. They are breathing the same air (with aerosoled virons), touching the same surfaces, eating the same food, using the same bathrooms, yet this bureaucrat thinks masking is the most important protection in this case? No one should listen to these fools. No one.
