Weekend reporting lag on Cases, Hospitalizations and Deaths. Cases and Hospitalizations climbing quickly - Deaths only moderately.
67 Deaths (Weekend anomaly, likely to be revised way upwards in a day or two - Moderate rising trend).
Vaccinations weak on this daily report, after a much stronger week.
Jack Posobiec reports that the White House is drafting a big lockdown speech for Resident Biden this week. https://twitter.com/JackPosobiec/status/1422202761056239630
USA finally reached Biden's 4th of July goal on today's report, for 70% of Adults to get at least a first shot.
Nigeria received 4 Million doses of Moderna today from the USA.
President Donald Trump said on Monday (2 Aug) he hopes Americans "never forget" the contributions he made to border security and the rapid development of a COVID-19 vaccine.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that a nationwide vaccination requirement “is not on the table,” but noted that employers have the right to take that step as they see fit.
Sen. Lindsey Graham tests positive for COVID, credits vaccination for mild symptoms.
Obama plans 60th birthday bash with 700 people on Martha’s Vineyard this weekend, amid nationwide Delta variant surge. Maybe it will be like the recent super-spreader event, in nearby Provincetown.
The Kaiser Family Foundation released a report on vaccine performance, from reviewing State-level reports.
Among the notable findings from KFF’s report (https://www.kff.org/policy-watch/covid-19-vaccine-breakthrough-cases-data-from-the-states/ ):
The rate of breakthrough cases reported among those fully vaccinated is well below 1% in all reporting states, ranging from 0.01% in Connecticut to 0.29% in Alaska.
The rates of death among fully vaccinated people with COVID-19 were even lower, effectively zero (0.00%) in all but two reporting states, Arkansas and Michigan, where they were 0.01%. (Note: Deaths may or may not have been due to COVID-19.)
More than 9 in 10 COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have occurred among people who are unvaccinated or not yet fully vaccinated, in those states reporting breakthrough data.
“This data indicate the vast majority of reported COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in the U.S. are among those who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated,” the authors write. “These findings echo the abundance of data demonstrating the effectiveness of currently authorized COVID-19 vaccines.”
It is interesting that this has been added to your daily report. I think confidence is really starting to slip.
Still observing low rate of infection in vaccinated patients in my experience.
It is below 1% here but elsewhere it is much, much higher. The high profile cases of break thru are coming fast and furious as of late so I am not sure this 1% is a real number especially when Provincetown was supposedly 95% vaccinated yet there was a large outbreak.
less than 1%?
Do you feel the stigma against J and J remains warranted? Compared to the other two...
Also wondering if Moderna is the more effective of the mRNA.
“It is interesting that this has been added to your daily report.”
I started skimming the days news, under the search terms “Vaccine”, “Vaccination” and Delta Variant” and summarizing what I find to be pertinent, like a quick digest.
For your situational awareness.
Confidence in what is starting to slip?
The shots? I think for the most vulnerable, it’s better than nothing.
I just wish there were more transparency about other highly dismissed side effects like irregular periods in young women.
why should we trust anything the cdc claims and recommends while they continue to ignore biden’s opening the border and spreading thousands of disease carrying invaders across our country during a “global pandemic”???...
When were they vaxed? Recent study out of Israel is showing twice the rate of breakthroughs from people vaxed in January versus those vaxed in March.
Well yeah. They said “vaxxed” by accident ‘cause they really really meant UNvaxxed. 😷💀💉
Well yeah. They said “vaxxed” by accident ‘cause they really really meant UNvaxxed. 😷💀💉
I would think nothing could be better in some situations - and what I mean by nothing is medicines and treatments that have been used for decades with minimal side effects, cost and many, many studies.
“Still observing low rate of infection in vaccinated patients in my experience.”
MomMD says pretty much the same. Gas_Dr seems to have been off the net lately - hopefully on vacation, rather than getting busy at work.
Certain co-morbidities I would imagine lend themselves to trouble to both the virus and the vaccine perhaps...Like if you already have high blood pressure...and then the vaccine raises it too much...not good...
Wish there were more discussion about which TYPES of vaccines suit WHICH people...Also how to adjust DOSAGES and the TIMING between them based on age, weight, gender, or what have you... .and some people yeah, may have to avoid them altogether.
“Provincetown was supposedly 95% vaccinated yet there was a large outbreak.”
Provincetown is a resort town, famous as a Party area for homosexuals. The outbreak occurred during a big multi-day event, with a lot of participants from outside of the area, engaging in particularly risky group events - kind of like Spring Break, but much Gayer.
Kool-aid drinkers belive the <1%.
For the states I’ve been following at the state level, the 7-day moving average “case” trend lines have all turned down. Of course this may simply be a weekend/Monday reporting anomaly. But it is interesting.
I like your reports and enjoy the summary. Thanks.
We are not being told the truth as to what the real breakthru rate is.
