What was “interesting”, in 2020, at the start of this debacle, was the push for a 2 week-to-flatten-the-curve lockdown.

That made sense to anyone who has a good handle on viral epidemics. The reason of course, is because of the fact that nobody, not even governments, can stop the spread of a virulent corona or flu virus. It can be slowed down. By isolating everyone, the idea was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed by everyone trying to show up at once.

But these measures don’t change the numbers, just the time frame. Maybe 3/4 of the nation will be exposed to the virus sooner or later, there is no way around this, and maybe up to 1/2 the nation will actually become infected with it. I might not have the percentages exact, but you get the idea, the point is it’s a big $hit sandwich and we’re all gonna have to take a bite.

But then something curious happened. I don’t know where this notion came from. People started acting in such a way that they thought they could, or would, have to avoid this particular bug the rest of their lives. Further they somehow came to the conclusion that if they did contract this particular bug, it was an automatic death sentence.

I don’t understand “The Madness of Crowds”, but it went off the rails somewhere in there. And then the goalposts kept getting moved. “Well just stay in your basement till a Vaccine is whipped up for this thing, and THEN everything can get back to normal. I think a lot of people probably took the jab extremely reluctantly under extreme manipulation and for reasons of spousal harmonicity etc etc, with the expectation due to assurances that “everything can get back to normal”.

I suspect a lot of people are pretty pissed off right now, for a gazillion different reasons.
