Most of the "unsubstantiated scare stories" I've heard have been proposed by DOCTORS who cite their evidence and describe the process by which they came to their conclusions.
And I didn't know that the "educated" are immune to "scare stories." They seem eager to believe scare stories about climate change, Donald Trump, and "white-supremacists," among other things.

I did say “and,” not “and therefore.”
I hear the chatter, though, and it’s not a product of clear thinking. It’s mostly one person trying to make another even more scared, a “can you top this” parody of a real conversation.
