We still have to do away with ICE cars and move to all electric. It’s for the sake of the children.

Maybe this is more efficient than the US method of having the Tesla car fires after the owner drives the car home. (Sorry to all who love the climate change friendly electric car only government mandates that are coming and will remind me that up to and including probably 30 CHiPS episodes, gas powered cars and trucks burn in intense infernos of blazing heat—often.)

Telling someone not to charge their electric cars & simultaneously promoting them, while downgrading gasoline fueled cars takes a real sense of humor, lack of brains, or a combination of both.

What is a battery weighing 13 tons used for?

To put workers another day older and deeper in debt.

Oh, wait. That was 16 tons ones.

Billowing black smoke cloud photo....

When the smoke clears, Greta will assure us that electric cars are good for the environment and it’s good for our government to demand an end to gas powered vehicles on a certain date by federal law.

I believe there are a few companies already doin’ it.
Musk not needed. Or more efficient zinc air batteries.

Yeah, I forgot that government employees never get fired or laid off. They just retire on upwards of 80% of their salary instead of what the plebs get from social security.

I agree. Among many other reasons, it is embedded gasoline/oil producers and manufacturers that stifle innovation also. If ya’ gonna do it...ya gotta do it yourself and small scale till financially rock solid stable, then introduce to larger market

Yes, that too. Because diesel engines will wear and last twice as long. Can’t have that...

There have been a very few made and produced. But they are gasoline over electric. Which of course is only about half the mileage a same size diesel over electric would get for the same output.

My personal formula is consuming only half the fuel to do the same amount of work equates to half the emissions put out no matter what type they are.

All electric will never work, batteries will never work. They need to compromise now. And this is a good efficient compromise. And probably one of the best overall for the environment at the same time.

Ah, then we both meant the same thing: diesel-electric trains.

I read your “over” as “instead of”. Thanks for clarifying.

What happens when a hurricane strikes and we’re out of power for awhile? During the aftermath of many storms it was nice to have different sources of cooking heat. I had neighbor’s using my grill and smoker for weeks and occasionally they’d ask to use my oven for roast and such. This all eggs in one basket is nuts! We need many different types of energy readily available. They won’t learn until it bites one of them in the ass real hard.

Part of that was my fault with “shop” jargon. Anytime we discuss one form of power system running/controlling another form of power system the slang is one “over” the other.

Habit from the mechanical trade. Such as Garbage Truck control systems being referred to as “air over electric, over air, over hydraulic”.

Because air valves control electric solenoids, these electric solenoids control a second air solenoid system, which then control the hydraulic spool valves to the rams.

“Musk not needed.”

Well, maybe not “needed” but I believe that his own, personal energy is what made Tesla. He is the force behind Space-X.

Like an Edison, the technology may be there, but it takes force of will to make it a reality, too.

Anyway, the point is that all energy is fungible. There is really nothing so wrong with hydrocarbon fuels as an energy source, especially with modern technology. There are many factors to their advantage. Though, I will admit that I favor the efficiency and simplicity of electric motors.
