“But apparently enough of us pushed back.”

Pubic school boards are now experiencing push-back over CRT. And they don’t like it.

(That’s not a typo.)

I spent two years in Mercer Island schools (my 7th and part of 8th grade). It is a very affluent community and the public schools were of such high quality that they might as well have been exclusive private schools. I did VERY well.

Then we moved to Kent schools (1968) and I was a full year ahead of the rest of the students. And the teachers were “mostly” awful, though I had a couple of good ones. But I completely lost interest in school and barely graduated from high school.

One comical one was my civics teacher (Civics was required to graduate) was going to flunk me in my senior year - even though I was doing B+ work - because I played hooky an average of 13 days per quarter.

Personally, my take on public schools is as follows:

Public schools are a 19th century paradigm that outlived its purpose in the early 21st century. Its primary function today is threefold:
1. Politically and socially indoctrinate the masses.
2. Provide employment to overeducated graduates of a bloated college system
3. Provide free daycare to parents who have sold themselves into indentured slavery.
