Here’s Where That COVID-19 Vaccine Infertility Myth Came From—And Why It Is Not True
Posted on April 23, 2021 by Henry Ford Health System Staff
Last December, a German epidemiologist said the COVID-19 vaccines might make women’s bodies reject a protein that’s connected to placenta, therefore making women infertile. He thought this because the genetic code of the placenta protein, called syncytin-1, shares a hint of similarity with the genetic code of the spike protein in COVID-19. If the vaccines caused our bodies to make antibodies to protect us from COVID-19, he thought, they could also make antibodies to reject the placenta.
This, however, was a theoretical risk that was completely disproven in the clinical trials and continues to be disproven in real time as more women of child-bearing age become fully vaccinated.
“It’s inaccurate to say that COVID-19’s spike protein and this placenta protein share a similar genetic code,” says D’Angela Pitts, M.D., a maternal fetal medicine specialist with Henry Ford Health System. “The proteins are not similar enough to cause placenta to not attach to an embryo.”
Evidence Firmly Shows The COVID-19 Vaccines Do Not Cause Infertility
“Women who participated in the COVID-19 clinical trials were able to conceive after vaccination," says Dr. Pitts. "We also have many patients here at Henry Ford who got vaccinated and then became pregnant afterwards. Some are in their first trimester, some are now in their second trimester. There’s no evidence to show that the COVID-19 vaccines lead to reduced fertility.”

Here’s the thing. It’s guaranteed the vaccination won’t interfere with reproduction if you don’t take it. No reason to take a chance on this rush job vaccine. And the age range of reproductive women is at almost no risk from the virus.
100% agree with you. People deserve to hear accurate information so they can exercise their right to make informed decisions. When someone spreads misinformation, it's an attack on the right to make that informed decision. Dishonesty bugs me.
Think about it, the study wasn’t done until people are already getting the injection. Does that sound intelligent?
There are other theories on how the vaccination can make people infertile that is addressed...
Correction:
There are other theories on how the vaccination can make people infertile that ISN’T addressed...
Verdict first, evidence after (maybe).
At this point, they do not have sufficient evidence to say yea or nay. The risk may be theoretical, but one does not debunk it by simply stating it isn't true, even in Biden's America.
Does that sound intelligent.
…..and purposeful, after all, wouldn’t want to scare anyone with The Science, would we?
So we should just take the word of Dr. Pitts and ignore the 100’s of instances of spontaneous abortions in VAERS? Oh, I see, we can just pick and choose the data we want to use for these “better informed choices.” Got ya.
I know a 30 something year old woman who got pregnant after being vaxxed a few months before.
Except that they just released an interview saying they were in phase 3 of “testing to see if the vaccine has any impact on this”. So, not buying it. Never, in my lifetime, have I seen so much contradictory “science” put forth by practitioners in the field...with one side being HAMMERED to toe the line.
That alone should tell you all you need to know. Just because it’s on the internet, does NOT make it true....Nor does having a “doctor/scientist” saying it make it so, as there are too many other competent ones disagreeing.
Yes but even liberal outlets acknowledge the thousands of reports/emerging data about irregular periods: :(
Would l is your thoughts on this piece.
Oh my gosh, if that were only true in today's America.
Wow typos
Would love your thoughts on this piece**
The vaccine industry is pure evil and fraudulent
Every single syllable they order is a lie and all you need to know is that the Democrats are 100% behind them and I’ve pushed them for about 70 years now
People claim the mRNA shots are safer for women than J and J. In England and EU , AstraZeneca is no longer administered to anyone under 60. Especially women. But not because of fertility...because of clotting risk.
But Russia’s adenovirus vaccines are different in mechanism due to suing two not one vector or something...and also supposed to be safer due to some delicate filtration process their vaccine makers employed... they said they’re willing to share their knowledge but there’s so little healthy dialogue among all the vaccine makers.
“Misinformation” is a Left wing construct. It’s common usage is directly linked to the promotion of censorship and undermining free speech.
When Conservatives engage in using this word, it plays right into the Left’s hand. Just like using the term “African American” (instead of Black) or “homeless people” (instead of bums, hobos, and street crazies).
The Left uses language to control us. I’ve been following politics for 50 years. I never remember any journalists or politicians using the term misinformation, until the age of big tech, social media, and Trump derangement syndrome.
I don’t like liars either. But I prefer to use words like liars, lies, and damned lies. When I hear the word misinformation, it makes me think of Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey’s evil faces, and evil plans. And I refuse to lend legitimacy to their word game propaganda.
